    Jacob Horger served as a Private in Thompson's South Carolina Militia Regiment under Captain Rumph. He appeared on Captain Rumph payroll at least one time with 140 days on duty.  Captain Rumph commanded a company of Calvary and appears to have been quite active until the war ended. The company was in constant conflict with the many Tories in the area and appear to have been in Charleston when the English took control. Jacob Horger died after 28 June 1807 probably in South Carolina.

      Compatriots Harlan H. Daniel (deceased), Melvin Ulris Ulmer, Jr. (deceased), Melvin Ulris Ulmer, III, and William James Ulmer are direct descendants of Jacob Horger.

      The Jacob Horger Chapter was chartered in 1990, with Harlan Daniel as organizing President and Melvin Ulris Ulmer, Jr. as a charter member.​

The Jacob Horger Chapter meets at  on April 20 (11:00 am), October 19th (11:00 am),  

December 10 (6pm), and January 18th(11:00 am) at the Laurel Country Club (2011 US-84, Laurel, MS 39440). Lunch is available for purchase.  The December meeting is our Christmas dinner.

     Jacob Horger was born in 1752 in the Orangeburg District of South Carolina. He was the second child of Jacob Horger born in Switzerland and Lovisia Shaumloffel born in Orangeburg District, South Carolina.  Jacob married Margaret Isabelle Inabnit on October 17, 1771, in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
